MS StuCo Elections Encourage Student Leadership

Middle schoolers desiring to develop their leadership skills and serve the student body were invited to run for the MS Student Council, also known as StuCo. Students were given until August 16 to submit their applications and campaign posters for approval. Then, candidates approved to run were allowed to campaign by displaying their posters in the middle school halls from August 19-23. The posters created by this year’s candidates were incredibly clever and creative.

Sixth grade students were eligible to run for one of four grade representative positions and had to create a video recording of themselves communicating how they would serve their peers if elected. The 7th graders were eligible to run for vice president and secretary, while 8th graders were eligible to run for president and treasurer. Instead of a video recording, 7th and 8th graders running for office had to give a speech on stage in the auditorium informing their classmates how they would be an asset to the middle school community. Despite being nervous, all of the candidates represented themselves well and brought a lot of new ideas and initiatives to their peers ensuring it will be a good year for MS StuCo.

With the campaigns finished and the votes cast we are excited to announce our MS StuCo leadership.

President: David Chang
