From Counting to Celebrating: Kinder is 100 Days Brighter!
Time flies when you’re having fun! On Friday, January 26, the YISS kindergarten classes celebrated the 100th Day of School! The event, celebrated annually on the 100th day of the school year, gives the students an opportunity to have fun with learning tasks, games, and stations focused on this important three-digit number.
Leading up to the 100th day, the kindergarteners worked hard in math class to learn how to count by tens and ones to this momentous number. Using this knowledge, they prepared for the celebration by gathering 100 objects from their homes. These objects—including pom-poms, stickers, candy, and more—were used to create 100-day posters with creative designs. These posters decorated the hallways alongside photos of what the kindergarteners might look like as 100-year-olds.
On the 100th day, excitement filled the air as parents, teachers, and students gathered together to celebrate. The students came to school dressed as 100-year-olds with glasses, gray hair, and even wrinkles!
ES Assistant Principal, Mrs. Palisuri, started the festivities with a special read-aloud of 100th Day Worries. After reading together, the classes split into teams which were led by kindergarten parents. The students spent the day showcasing their knowledge by participating in a variety of crafts, playing 100-second challenges, creating crowns, eating 100 snacks, and stamping 100 thumbprints.
The students, parents, and staff had a wonderful time celebrating this milestone for the kindergarteners! Congratulations to the kindergarten classes on completing your first 100 days at YISS.
