YISS Students Earn 1st in History Competition

In March, four YISS middle and high school students received their awards for participating in the NHD Korea competition this semester.  All of our participants represented YISS well, and three YISS students came in first place in their respective categories. The NHD competition featured middle and high school students from throughout the nation.

This year's theme for the competition was "Communication in History" and YISS students submitted entries in the following categories: senior research paper, senior individual documentary, and junior individual documentary.  The YISS students who came in first place qualified to move on to the next level of competition in the United States, to compete with NHD affiliate winners from all over the world. YISS is incredibly proud of its students for representing the school so well at this year's NHD competition.

Among this year’s 1st place winners were:

8th grader, DaHyun A. - 1st Place in the Junior Individual Website Category

11th grader, Ryan K. - 1st Place in the Senior Individual Documentary Category

After placing first in National History Day Korea, Ryan then moved on to the U.S. National History Day competition where he placed 2nd in his category. Way to go, Ryan!
