Sixth Grade Cellist Wins International Competitions

Sixth-grader SeEun P. has been playing cello for six years. Recently, she received the first prize at the New York International Music Concours. She was also awarded the privilege of playing at Carnegie Hall next year. Other than her accolades in the United States, she won the grand prize in the Vienna Jugendmusikwettbewerb and earned a ticket to compete in the Vienna International Concours next year in Austria.

When asked about her participation, she said, “Playing cello for these competitions was an amazing experience. It inspired me to improve and grow as a musician [...] I am so humbled by this opportunity and look forward to what cello playing will bring.”

Currently, she is a member of the YISS orchestra and Tri-M honor society.
