YISS Community Unites to Combat Blood Shortage

On May 15, YISS hosted a blood drive for the first time in two years. The Korean Red Cross blood-drive truck was stationed within our campus, allowing our school community to conveniently participate in the blood drive. Potential donors entered the truck and donated blood after answering several preliminary questions.

Throughout the past few months, the YISS Red Cross Youth (RCY) Club along with the AP Psychology class raised awareness about the blood shortage crisis and encouraged students and teachers to donate. Hosting a blood drive was a way in which our school community could respond to the crisis, essentially saving lives!

Many students, teachers, and parents stopped by to donate their blood throughout the school day. We were delighted to see the YISS community eager to partake in this meaningful event. Many blood donors described their experience afterward as fulfilling and worthwhile.

We are beyond grateful for all of the potential donors who enabled our community to host a blood drive. Special thanks to the PTO, Korean Red Cross, and Red Cross Youth Club members for facilitating the event.
