Guardian Ambassadors Host New Student Social

A shining welcome to all incoming ES students! On August 22 and 23, the Guardian Ambassadors, ES counselors and ES leadership team, and staff volunteers hosted the annual New Student Social for new kindergarten to 5th grade students. Everyone invited had a chance to mingle and socialize as well as eat snacks, play board games, and participate in outdoor activities!

The ES gym, B1 MPR, and kindergarten playground bustled with students playing chess, swinging hula hoops, rolling bowling balls, and other classic games. Our young Guardian Ambassadors proudly wore their red vests and truly stepped forward as positive role models and leaders for new students. They not only served others throughout the event but fostered a warm environment that showcased the well-being and inclusivity of the YISS community. In preparation for the event, our Guardian Ambassadors even went through a training period in which they asked their peers on how they could assume their roles. Our elementary students responded on handwritten poster boards with a flood of positive encouragements such as “set an example for others” and “love others!”

At the end of the event, the Guardian Ambassadors held a spontaneous farewell parade by standing in a row and waving goodbye to all of our new students. It was a heartwarming experience! Thanks to all those who hosted and participated in the New Student Social, our elementary students left feeling refreshed and excited to take on the school year!
