MS Drama Classes Bring Stories to Life
Take a classroom full of energetic middle school students and add some drama–what do you get? An exciting mix of monologues, improvisation, pantomime, and live performances! The MS drama exploratory classes are up and running for 2023, and students are learning the methods of acting, staging, and performing for an audience.
Drama teachers Ms. Nelson and Mrs. Byrd are guiding these young actors as they learn to create realistic, engaging characters and construct gripping scenes. Drama 6 has been focused on monologue performances where students bring the voices of characters including Cruella Deville, and Dorothy of Oz, among others, to life. In Drama 7 and 8, students have been working on tableau and physical representation and using the whole stage. In future units, students will learn to cooperate and interact in several ensemble skits and plays. The semester promises a rich array of productions where these students will have the chance to overcome their stage fright and show off their dramatic stage skills.
