MS Bonds Through Games and Activities at FallFest

On October 25-26, the YISS middle school hosted FallFest 2021. When the middle school PTO members learned that the YISS annual FunFest was canceled again this year, they threw themselves into planning FallFest, an event first developed last school year and designed to provide middle school students an opportunity to have a little fun and enjoy socializing in place of the schoolwide FunFest.

The MS PTO parents planned a series of fun activities and games including Box Hockey, Nerf Arrow Shooting, Bean Bag Toss, Charades, Tug of War, a photo booth, and candy grams. The game and activity stations were spread out in the gym, the aerobics room, the gym lobby, and outside.

In order to accommodate COVID safety precautions, the students signed up to participate in small groups with friends and classmates. On the day of the event, the small groups of students rotated through the games competing with each other for an ice cream prize.

One special activity in this event was the chance to buy candy grams for friends. For 2,000 won, students purchased a candy gram; they were given a card to fill out with the name of the person they wish the candy gram to be sent to and a space for an encouraging note. The following week in homeroom, students received the candy grams sent to them by their friends.

Throughout the event, the excitement could be felt throughout the various activity locations. This event certainly brought a smile to everyone’s faces and some students even had the chance to demonstrate their hidden talents! Spending time with classmates has been difficult since COVID started, but this event provided students the chance to just have fun in a safe environment. It also provided an opportunity for students to bond together and to see a different side of their classmates and teachers.
