High School Jazz Band Earns KAIAC Gold Rating

On November 4, the high school jazz band students performed for a panel of judges and received a gold rating for their performance at the KAIAC Large Group Festival. Gold is the second-highest award given by judges. Because this event was virtual this year, we recorded our performance and sent in the video through a google form. No editing was allowed with video or audio for all pieces.

The KAIAC Large Group Festivals are to help ensembles better themselves through constructive feedback given by judges who excel in the field of music education. The judges are all music educators who are part of KAIAC.

This year, all students in the jazz band are new to the ensemble, except for one student. Learning the difficult style differences from classical music and improvisation are both skills that take much time and dedication to master. We are very proud that these jazz musicians represented themselves and our school so well in a season that has been difficult for bands.
