MS Band Students Hold First-Ever DIY Instrument Fair
On May 7, the YISS middle school band students displayed their off-stage talents through a DIY Instrument Fair. For this project, students worked to come up with original ideas for instruments and discovered how sound waves are produced through a variety of mediums. The project was a great success, and students were very excited to show off their homemade instruments.
During class on May 7, students displayed their instruments, along with diagrams and the process for their creations, for students, parents, and staff to see. Students also played their instruments for the "audience" as they explained the science behind their instruments, and some lucky observers were also able to try out these new instruments themselves! This was the first time YISS band students have had an opportunity like this, and their overall reaction to the experience was quite positive. Thank you again to all who came out to support our middle schoolers' efforts in the DIY Instrument Fair!
