Commencement Ceremony Celebrates the YISS Class of 2024

On an overcast late afternoon on May 24, 2024, the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2024 took place in the YISS courtyard. The 69 graduates, along with YISS faculty, families, and guests—totaling around 500 people—gathered to celebrate this significant milestone.

The ceremony was highlighted by performances from senior musicians, who delivered a moving rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water." The commencement speaker, Mr. Kyle Pash, the school’s departing chaplain, inspired attendees with his speech. As he prepares to move to Hong Kong with his family this summer, he shared a guiding principle for life: "Coram Deo," a Latin phrase meaning "in the presence of God." He urged the graduates to live every aspect of their lives consciously in God's presence. Additionally, three graduates—Chloe Lim, Kyra Jun, and Anish Srivastava—gave eloquent speeches on the themes of truth, excellence, and diversity, respectively.

The tight-knit Class of 2024 will soon be dispersing across the globe to pursue their tertiary education. Six students will be studying in Canada, two in Europe, and two in Asia. The majority of the graduates will be heading to the United States to attend some of the nation's top universities. These students have diverse ambitions, with career plans ranging from hospitality to medicine. We are incredibly proud of this remarkable group and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. Congratulations, Class of 2024!
