4th Graders Create Their Own Ecosystems with Fish

After learning about the structures and functions of plants and animals, our fourth graders finished out their science unit with a hands-on project.

Students built their own ecosystems using plastic bottles, plants, string, rocks, water, and even live fish. This activity reinforced the information they learned throughout the unit and also gave them the opportunity to see and explain how plants and animals interact with each other in an ecosystem.

In the weeks to come, the fourth graders will be observing how the ecosystem functions, each piece working together.
