YISS Raises Scholarship Funds for the Oak Tree Project

It was a beautiful, crisp sunny afternoon on Saturday, October 17, when close to 160 YISS students, faculty, staff, and parents came together to collectively support the Oak Tree Project Run.

The YISS Booster’s Club and PTO joined forces to provide a place for YISS community members, who are registered to participate in the virtual Oak Tree Run, to run on campus. All funds raised go towards college scholarships for orphans affiliated with the Oak Tree Project. The funds raised from YISS amounted to 6,370,000 won making YISS the leading fundraising group to date.

The Oak Tree Project aids Korean orphans as they start college. At the age of 18, these orphans are asked to leave orphanages and are often left without sufficient finances to attend universities. Funds raised will go towards these students’ financial support for college. YISS is privileged to support this wonderful organization and help create an impact in our community.

Our YISS vision is to create leaders who are creative, collaborative, compassionate and committed to impacting the world with servant hearts. Participation in this Oak Tree Project was a wonderful way to foster our YISS vision.
