YISS PTO Ships 200 Boxes for Earthquake Victims

From February 13-15, the YISS PTO invited students, parents, teachers, and staff to donate winter clothing and other goods for earthquake victims in Türkiye. Thanks to the generosity and kindness of many in our school community, the YISS PTO collected over 200 boxes of goods in three short days.

Among the items donated were new and gently-used winter coats and apparel, over 300 pairs of winter boots and shoes, diapers, personal care goods, etc. Several parent volunteers came out to help sort and box items. The YISS PTO sponsored a large truck to safely transport all of the donations to a government district office where they were repackaged for shipping to Türkiye. Thanks to the students, staff, and families for their quick and loving response to assist others in need. Our YISS community is amazing!

Note: Did you know that in June 2022, the United Nations agreed to change the spelling of the country known in the English-speaking world as Turkey to Türkiye, heeding a request by the Turkish government?
