Varsity Boys’ Volleyball Over-Achieves in 2022 Season

This year our boys over-achieved. If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that we were going to be 3rd in conference and finalists at ACSC, I wouldn’t have believed you. We had just two seniors and half of our starting lineup was relatively new to the game of volleyball. But, through the leadership of those two seniors and perseverance through ups and downs, the boys put together a good season.

Things really came together in Malaysia at the ACSC tournament. The boys beat very tough ICS Bangkok and Grace International School teams to make the finals for the 5th year in a row. Ryan Suh received the Best Blocker award and Colin Chung received the Best Passer award for the tournament. Ashton Shim, David Lee, and Joshua Kim were ACSC all-tournament selections. The team rightfully earned the ACSC Sportsmanship Award. Joshua Kim also received KAIAC all-conference honors and Asthon Shim earned an all-tournament selection.

Most importantly, I can say with confidence that each athlete grew closer together and learned what it means to be a team on and off the court.

At the end-of-season banquet, the following athletes were recognized:

  • Spirit Award - Taehoon Kim

  • Guardian Award - Ashton Shim

  • Coach’s Award - David Lee

  • MVP Award - Joshua Kim
