YISS Aquatics Holds Schoolwide Time Trials

On August 28, YISS kicked off the first swim meet of the school year with a highly anticipated Swim Time Trials event. The meet brought together 136 swimmers from 1st grade through 12th grade, showcasing talent across the school. The event was a great success, thanks to the collective efforts of dedicated volunteers, staff, and supportive parents who ensured everything ran smoothly.

The time trials featured a series of impressive performances, with the following swimmers achieving results that placed them in the YISS All-time Top 5 swim records per age group:

Abigail L. (7)  delivered a standout performance, setting an 11-12 age-group all-time school record in the 100 IM with a time of 1:16.48. 

In the Freestyle events, Juwon B. (3) recorded a 50m time of 42.53 seconds, while Olivia S. (3) completed the 100m in 1:48.60. Zion P. (4) led the 200m with a time of 4:17.21, and Yunejay L. (8) dominated with a 50m finish at 26.01 seconds. 

The Breaststroke events saw Taein K. (3)  finish the 50m in 1:12.64, Owen R. (5) clock 28.26 seconds in the 25m, and Ari K. (4) post a 100m time of 2:17.88. Yuri L. (5) impressed with a 50m finish of 42.69, while Yunejay L. (8) secured a strong 50m finish at 32.48.

In the individual medley, Nathan H. (3) completed the 100m in 1:59.30, followed by Emerson H. (3) at 1:54.53. Ian S. (5) led the 9-10 age group with a time of 1:30.45, while Dylan H. (7) recorded a strong 100m IM time of 1:15.53.

Camila H. (8) excelled in multiple events, including a 100m IM time of 1:14.89, a 200m Freestyle at 2:19.12, and a 50m Butterfly at 33.27. 

Notable Backstroke performances included Ari Kim's (4) 100m time of 2:01.01, Ian S.'s (5) 1:33.69, Kevin B.’s (5) 2:01.85, and Judy K.'s (6) 3:09.64 in the 200m. Raina C. (8)  finished the 50m in 34.77 and the 200m in 2:51.55.

The Butterfly events were highlighted by Jordyn C.'s (7) 100m time of 1:36.21, Ryan C.'s (9) 100m finish at 1:08.45, and a strong 200m at 2:46.97. Max G. (11) delivered standout performances with a 50m Butterfly finish at 27.42, a 100m IM time of 1:03.87, and a 50m Breaststroke finish at 33.04.

These outstanding results set a high standard for the upcoming season, reflecting the hard work and dedication of YISS swimmers. Their achievements in this meet have etched their names into the YISS all-time top 5 swim records, and we look forward to seeing even more remarkable performances as the year progresses.
