Student Compositions Show Deep Music Theory Knowledge
The 6th grade and High School band students worked towards meeting their "creating" and "responding" standards by making their own compositions. In these assignments, students were given guidelines and tips on basic composition techniques with melody, song form, and beat. From there, they were able to explore different sounds and styles and bring their musical ideas to life. Below are examples of outstanding compositions from both the High School and 6th-grade bands:

Through their compositions, many students showed how advanced the depth of their music theory knowledge is, doing things such as writing harmonies, advanced rhythms, and styles that were not required for the assignment.
