MS Cross Country Holds YISS-Only Jamborees

On September 16, our MS cross country team enjoyed competing against one another in our first YISS-only jamboree of the season. The race consisted of a one-kilometer loop around our campus that the students ran three times. 

Our top three finishers in the girls’ 3km race were Olivia H.L. (7th) with a time of 16:41, Kaiden H. (8th) with a time of 17:24, and Amiah D. (8th) with a time of 17:44. Our top three finishers in the boys’ 3km race were Jeremiah R. (8th) with a time of 14:28, Leon K. (8th) with a time of 14:35, and Matthew L. (8th) with a time of 14:53. All boys and girls runners finished the 3km race in under 25 minutes.

On Thursday, October 7, our MS cross country team enjoyed some friendly competition against our faculty members. Seventh grade social studies teacher, Mr. Harrison won the 3km race with a time of 13:05. Aquatics Director, Mr. Barker, finished runner-up with a time of 13:27, and Leon K. (8th) took third place with a time of 13:37. 

Our MS cross country team would like to extend a special thank you to all of the faculty members that participated in the race: Mr. Harrison, Mr. Barker, Mr. Benedict (4th grade teacher), Mrs. Treviño (ES Assistant Principal), Mr. Rayburn (ES PE teacher), Mr. Ludwig (Communications Specialist), Mr. Atkinson (MS Chaplain), Mr. Krahn (7th grade ELA teacher), and Ms. Kershner (MS Assistant Principal).

On Thursday, October 21, our MS cross country team finished their season with a Championship Race. The top three finishers for the girls’ race were: Kaiden H. (8th) with a time of 15:15, Amiah D. (8th) with a time of 15:34, and Olivia H.L. (7th) with a time of 16:08. An award was also given for the girl runner with the most improved time from the first race to this race, and the recipient of this award was Gia H. (6th) with an improvement of 5:25. The top three finishers for the boys’ race were: Leon K. (8th) with a time of 13:12, Matthew L. (8th) with a time of 13:19, and Jeremiah R. (8th) with a time of 13:27. The boy recipient for the most improved time from the first race to this race was Chang-il I. (7th) with an improvement of 1:52.
