Girls’ Varsity Basketball Builds in Tournament-Filled Season
This year was a building year for the girls’ varsity basketball team. The athletes showed an impressive amount of growth form throughout the season. This was our first year getting to have all of our tournaments and trips back in action since the pandemic. Our girls were able to gain a lot of experience playing teams from all over the world as well as playing against the toughest competition from military base schools in Korea.
From late January to February, our girls’ varsity basketball team lived and breathed basketball for almost three weeks straight as they had three tournaments back-to-back-to-back, preparing for and competing in the Far East Tournament, KAIAC Tournament, and ACSC Tournament.
A majority of our players experience their first full season of varsity basketball, so this was an incredible time to see our girls develop their skills through their tough competition as well as come together as a team to support each other through wins and losses. More importantly, we hoped that our girls' love of basketball would continue to grow as the season went on through their many different tournament experiences!
Throughout the year, we had some fun successes and close games like our home game against Humphreys where our girls commanded the whole game and came out with a win and when we beat TCIS on their home turf by one point! We also had some tough games where we were so close and lost by only one point.
The coaches are so proud of these girls and the hard work they have put in all season. We are also excited to see what these girls have in store next year. We have five juniors who have the potential to return as seniors and three very talented sophomores who will be juniors next season. There is so much potential on the horizon, and we cannot wait to see how that is showcased next year!
