Fall Book Fair Provides New Books for the YISS Community
Students, teachers, and parents had a wonderful time perusing the wide selection of books at the Fall Book Fair held in the main lobby from November 20-22. The PTO and libraries sponsored the event by inviting Sejong Kids Book and Word of Life to provide hundreds of quality books for all ages at reasonable prices for our community.
Students and parents were delighted to see a large section for middle and high school students and a recommended book section for each reading level, as well as books written by American children’s book author, Marissa Moss, who will visit YISS in February.
In addition, the generosity of parents added 460 books to classroom libraries. In addition, the YISS PTO donated 85 books to ES and MS classrooms and 65 books to our libraries. Thank you for providing students with a fantastic selection of books to read both at home and in school.
By all indicators, the event was an enormous success with strong sales during the three-day fair. Ten percent of sales will be donated to the YISS PTO and then earmarked for reading related initiatives, such as more books, author visits, ES Read-a-Thon, Raz-Kids subscription for ES families, and the MS Reading Appreciation Program.
Thank you to everyone who visited the Fall Book Fair and those who kindly donated books for classroom libraries. Our heartfelt thanks to Fall Book Fair Committee members Jessica Chung, Sylvia Kim, Sunghee Ahn, Colleen Dwight, and Marjorie Kennedy and their team of parent volunteers for their invaluable role in helping students find books and facilitating classroom library donations.
