Kindergarteners Celebrate in a Writers’ Parade

YISS kindergarten students recently finished a unit on writing narrative essays and the tricks of storytelling on paper. They designed their own stories through hand drawn pictures and words and proudly displayed them on handheld posters. To top off the unit, the kindergarteners celebrated in a Writers’ Parade throughout the school.

Students made “We Are Writers” crowns and chose their best stories to hold as they marched around the hallways, around the campus, and up to the soccer field. The kindergarteners chanted, “We are Writers!” to showcase their wonderful work. The elementary administrative team and related arts teachers came to show their support for all the hard work that the kindergarteners had poured into their stories. As they marched through the elementary hallways, elementary students even stood to applaud and greet the parade with congratulation posters.
