ES SEW Explores How “Life is Better Upside Down”

This year’s ES Spiritual/Special Emphasis week took place on January 25-28. Ryan Smith, the associate pastor at Jubilee Church, returned to share a positive message about how we can grow our bodies, minds, hearts, and relationships. The theme of the week this year was: “Life is Better Upside Down.” This was a way of encouraging the students to think differently and invest in things that really matter and that will keep them strong in the days to come. Throughout the week, students gathered in the auditorium to sing songs with the Staff Band, listen to great stories, turn and talk, and think deeply.

Mr. Smith spoke to both NICS and Oasis groups separately in a way the children could relate to and about some of the most important things in life. He helped the NICS students understand that we can respond to God’s love by loving others and that He is with us even when it’s hard to do so. Mr. Smith helped the Oasis students learn how we are all loved and explored how we can pass that love on. Both groups were encouraged to care for themselves and each other as they continue to grow as people.

All in all, the elementary school had a fantastic SEW! It was a meaningful time spent together as a school with visible signs of enjoyment from little hearts that were encouraged. “Life is Better Upside Down”!
