ES Hosts First-Ever Hour of Code Night

On December 2, 2022, YISS held its first-ever Elementary Hour of Code Night. The event was a huge success, with students from all elementary grade levels participating in a variety of coding activities and challenges.

The event was designed to showcase the many ways in which coding can be used to create cool and interesting projects. Students had the opportunity to try out new technologies such as virtual reality, 3D modeling, robotics, and using technology to create art. They also had the chance to show off their coding skills and learn from their peers. One of the highlights of the event was the "coded treasure" challenge, where students worked together to unlock a special prize. This challenge was designed to encourage teamwork and problem-solving skills.

"We are thrilled with the success of our first Elementary Hour of Code Night," said Principal David Benedict. "It was great to see so many students engaged in coding and trying out new technologies. We hope that this event has inspired them to continue learning about coding and to see all the cool things they can create with it.”

The event was a great opportunity for students to learn more about coding, as well as to explore the many possibilities that it offers. It was also a chance for the school community to come together and celebrate the amazing things that students can accomplish with code. The school plans to continue to hold such events in the future to keep encouraging students to develop interest in coding and technology.  Elementary Technology teacher Charrissa Widman was the driving force behind this event, and deserves a lot of credit for providing YISS students with such amazing learning opportunities!
