Commencement Ceremony Celebrates Class of 2022

On a perfect late afternoon on May 27, 2022, the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2022 took place in the YISS courtyard. The 72 graduates, YISS faculty, families, and guests, totaling close to 500 people, gathered to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of this remarkable class.

During the ceremony, seven graduates received scholarships from the Korea Foreign Schools Foundation. The ceremony was also highlighted by some of our senior musicians and their rendition of “This Is Me.” There was a choral performance by the Faculty Choir to honor the graduates as well.

The commencement speakers were Mr. Jason Son and Mrs. Joanne Son, two of the most popular teachers who are departing YISS as they move to Singapore this summer. They shared a beautiful perspective on the secrets to joyful living.

Three graduates, Ryan Rhee, Hyunjung Cho, and Yazan Al-Wazani, also eloquently spoke on the topics of truth, excellence, and diversity, respectively.

The tight-knit Class of 2022 will be spreading out all over the globe this summer as they embark on their journey to post-secondary education. Seven students will be studying in Canada, four in Europe, and two each in the UK, Australia, and Asia. The remaining students will be heading to the United States to attend some of the top universities in the country. These graduates are diverse in their pursuits and plan to go into fields ranging from hospitality to neuroscience. We are so proud of this impressive group of students and wish them all the best. Congratulations, YISS Class of 2022!
