2nd Grade Market Day Puts Economics into Practice

On October 18, YISS 2nd graders had the chance to showcase their new economic knowledge at the 2nd Grade Market Day. In social studies, they had  studied products, resources, consumers, and suppliers, as well as money and banking. They put what they learned into practice by forming groups to create and “sell” products to their classmates through tickets they earned in class.

Students sold handmade goods such as illustrated bookmarks, hand painted pebbles, and even handmade jewelry. Some students even created their own piggy banks to sell, while others sold snacks such as marshmallows and cookies. Thanks to the wonderful, creative output of the 2nd graders, the 2nd Grade Market Day turned into a bustling marketplace and learning hub for economics!
