Superheroes Unite at YISS FunFest 2019
On Friday, October 11, superheroes of all ages, shapes, and sizes descended on the YISS campus for a celebration of their superpowers at FunFest 2019. The "Superheroes" theme was clearly displayed in the costumes, booth decorations, game names, prizes, souvenirs, and music at the event. FunFest is our annual school-wide carnival event organized by the YISS PTO that aims to provide a wide-variety of games and activities, delicious food, teacher raffle, and live music performances to bring together our entire school community for a wonderful night of family-centered fun.
At FunFest, students enjoyed 23 carnival games that were organized by ES room parents, water balloon toss by MS StuCo, Zorb balls by HS StuCo, three activities organized by MS parents, and several more activities by HS clubs. Students excitedly entered the teacher's raffle, bounced on inflatables, and hit the MS BOOM Shop. A variety of live entertainment was made possible by ES Chaplain Simon Adams and various MS and HS vocal and instrumental music ensembles in the courtyard. Dads' Club offered up their signature burgers and hotdogs, HS parents whipped up a medley of Korean foods, Japanese parents featured unique Japanese snacks, HS Clubs offered a variety of delicious desserts and area restaurants, Chakra and On the Border rounded out the scene with their entrees. So many delicious options to enjoy!
The theme “Superheroes” was the brainchild of FunFest Chair Sue Park. Assisted by PTO President Sunghee Ahn and her fearless 22-person team of superheroes all having their unique and valuable superpowers, Sue heroically pulled off a very difficult and dangerous mission.
The supernatural success of FunFest could not have been possible without the uniting of superpowers by teachers and staff, room parents, grade reps, HS clubs, and scores of dedicated parent volunteers. Thank you all for joining us on the incredible adventure of FunFest Superheroes.
