MS Volleyball Competes in Interscholastic Game

For the first time in three years, our middle school volleyball teams competed in an interscholastic game on Saturday, March 18. The boys’ and girls’ teams were extremely excited to finally test their mettle against another school. Due to limitations on rosters, coaches selected a total of 24 “all-star” players (12 boys and 12 girls) who would compete against Seoul Foreign School.

The players for the girls’ team were: Keira C., Hanna C., Amiah D., Lia G., Kaiden H., Addie K., Christine K., Jaelyn K., Olivia Hayoun L., Emily N., Alissa R., and Chloe S. The players for the boys were Ace B., Dalton C., David J., Sky J., Leon K., Aaron K., Andrew L., Matthew L., Seunghun L., Andy L., Gabe Munoz., and Tyler P. The tournament took place in the YISS’ gym, and the matches were played as the best of three sets.

Those who were watching the game or waiting to be subbed in cheered for their teammates, and the gym was filled with excitement on and off the court. After warming up, the girls played first, followed by the boys. One of the girls’ coaches, Coach Nelson, noted that the players had great control and energy. She also said that everyone did their best and they never gave up. For the girls' face-off, YISS won the first two sets, while SFS won the third. For the boys' game, SFS took all three sets.

To end the season, the middle school volleyball program split into four girls’ teams and four boys’ teams for a double-elimination style tournament. The first games took place on March 12, early on in the season, to determine the seeding for the final bracket play. The tournament played out during the last week of the season on March 21, 22, and 24. For the boys, Team 4 won it all, while Team 2 took home the win for the girls. At the end of the tournament, the winning teams received plaques.

Great job to all of our volleyball players who did an amazing job at the games! Your coaches, peers, and teachers are so proud of you!
