Lee University Symphonic Band Performs at YISS
Nearing the close of their two-week tour of South Korea, the Symphonic Band from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee brought their talents to the YISS auditorium on Saturday, May 18 for a free concert to the public. The group, which strives to use their musicianship to magnify Christ and share the gospel, had played for a number of different churches and schools in the greater Seoul area over the past few weeks prior to coming to YISS.
Under the direction of Dr. Mark Bailey, who has led the band program at Lee University for nearly three decades, the band performed a combination of instrumental and vocal works in a variety of genres, including big band pieces, praise and worship songs, and jazz-inspired numbers. The students were joined by our very own band director Ms. Tori Palmer, who played with them for the whole concert. The hour and a half set raised spirits and provided a nice outlet to hear some outstanding musicians.
