JV Boys’ Volleyball Grows with Positive Attitudes

As the JV boys’ volleyball season went on and we played more games, we all began to change one by one. Rather than focusing on ourselves, players began to encourage each other, not only on the court but also outside of the court. And players began to sacrifice for the team.

An example of sacrifice was when we were in a close game against one of the strongest teams in the conference. It was an important part of our season to give as many players time to develop on the court as possible, but one player gave up his court time in favor of a player he thought would perform better that day, showing his selflessness and love for the team. The players started paying attention to one another on the court, started to change and develop, and eventually, started playing as a team.

Our record was one win and seven losses this season. We had more losing games than winning games, which might not seem like a good outcome to most. However, one of the things I am proudest of is our team’s ability to never be discouraged or down, rather they enjoyed the season with positive attitudes and grew much more because of this.

At the awards banquet, the following athletes were recognized:

  • Spirit Award - Aaron Kim

  • Guardian Award - David Jin
