ES Starts Campaign to “Make Kindness the Norm”
On November 22-26, the YISS elementary school kicked off their Random Acts of Kindness campaign with a week of kindness-inspired dress-down days. The Random Acts of Kindness campaign is a global initiative to help encourage our students to “Make Kindness the Norm™.”
The campaign focuses on kindness in everyday life such as holding the door for someone else or giving someone a note of encouragement. To celebrate the start of the campaign for the 21-22 school year, the elementary counselors planned themed dress-down days.
Monday was Crazy Sock Day - “Crazy for Kindness!”
Tuesday was Space Day - “Kindness is out of this world!”
Wednesday was Crazy Hair Day - “Use your head, be kind!”
Thursday was Pajama Day - “Kindness never sleeps.”
And the week finished off with ES staff and students donning their Be Kind shirts to show that they are all YISS RAKtivists!
The kick-off week was a success, but the goal of the campaign is to encourage students to make kindness the norm, not the exception. So throughout the school year, teachers will award Kindness Koins to students caught doing Random Acts of Kindness. Also, each month, a new Monthly Kindness Theme will be announced, allowing students the opportunity to put Random Acts of Kindness into action through Monthly Challenges. So stay tuned for more RAKtivities to come!
