2022 Book Swap Sees Over 1,400 Books Exchanged
“The book to read is not the one which thinks for you, but the one which makes you think. No book in the world equals the Bible for that.” - Harper Lee
“If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.” - J.K. Rowling
“Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.” - Jane Smiley
During the global pandemic over the last two years, most of us have had to make changes and adjustments. We have had to wear masks, social distance, limit gatherings, cancel events, and postpone travel plans. However, the one thing we have been able to count on remaining constant is the ability to sit down and read a good book. This is one of the reasons why the YISS PTO was determined to hold the Book Swap event this school year.
Book Swap began in January with students submitting their gently-used books from January 17 to February 11 and then coming to choose their “new” books on February 22-23. Not only did 120 students from elementary to high school contribute 1,485 books; all but nine books were claimed by new owners! This certainly must be a new record for the YISS Book Swap!
Although this means that we are not able to donate any books to the Little Library charity, we are delighted to know that all those books now have happy new homes. This would not have been possible without the active participation of students and parents, so thank you for making the 2022 Book Swap a resounding success!
See you next year!
