100 Swimmers Compete in 11th Annual Spring Invitational

On Saturday, May 14, YISS Aquatics hosted the 11th Annual Spring Invitational, an all-ages swim competition. Around 100 swimmers from K-12 joined to celebrate spring and the sport of swimming. Many athletes broke records or set new personal best times in the pool, supported by a balcony full of parents, friends, and family coming to cheer them on!

Our swimmers competed virtually against two other KAIAC Schools: Chadwick International & Seoul Foreign School. Thanks to the relaxation of COVID restrictions, we were able to offer relays again. How fun and encouraging it was to see swimmers from different ages and genders building a team and rooting for one another.

There were several athletes who received times in the top five for their events and age groups in YISS history. Congratulations to the swimmers below:

  • Max G. / 50 Freeestyle (13-14 boys) / 26.29

  • Max G. / 100 Freestyle (13-14 boys) / 2:01.57

  • Olivia C. / 100 Backstroke (11-12 Girls) / 1:28.80

  • Chloe P. / 50 Breaststroke (11-12 Girls) / 41.11

  • Aiden H. / 50 Freestyle (9-10 Boys) / 31.29

In addition, every swimmer who achieved a personal record during the meet was rewarded with an amazing “Spring Invite” pink swimming cap!

We would like to again thank all of the volunteers who put in the time and effort to make this event successful. All YISS swimmers are encouraged to keep swimming and stay active over the summer as we look forward to more competitions to come next school year. We especially hope to see interscholastic swimmers join us here in our pool for the first time in more than two years!
