Dear YISS Middle School Community,

At YISS it is our goal to provide your middle school students with a positive and engaging learning environment where they are able to explore, discuss and learn about new ideas.  Middle school students are in the midst of one of the greatest developmental periods of their lives as they grow and change physically, mentally, and socially.  Sometimes this exciting growth makes these years tough to navigate. I believe that when we, as a community, work together to support our middle schoolers, much is achieved and expectations are surpassed as students develop into the young men and women God intends.  

A current reality we are all faced with is the COVID-19 pandemic.  It has brought changes to our lives and how we go about doing school. We’ve learned that COVID-19 sometimes requires us to change our plans, behavior, and activities, but it hasn’t changed the potential of each of our students.  We continue to work toward establishing a learning environment that is as safe and healthy as possible for our students and will enable them to learn and grow whether school is on campus, virtual, or a combination. 

Our school theme this year is “To Equip and To Empower.”  May we, together, support our students by equipping them and empowering them to reach their full potential.
