Swimmers Earn Personal Best Times at Jingle Bell Splash

On Saturday, December 11, YISS Aquatics hosted the 11th Annual Jingle Bell Splash, a fun and festive swimming competition for all ages. While we were not able to accommodate swimmers from other schools, the Aquatics Department still wanted to provide the opportunity for swimmers of all ages to have a chance to compete and establish personal best times this year.

It was good to see enthusiasm and excitement back on the deck, on the balcony, and in the water, as last year’s Jingle Bell Splash was canceled at the last minute due to COVID concerns. This year, the event involved approximately 130 swimmers and more than 20 volunteers!

Thanks to the help of the many volunteers, the support of the spectators, and the dedication of the swimmers, we were able to experience a high-class competition. With Christmas music, decorations, volunteers wearing Santa hats, and Christmas masks, this event also brought out the fun and festive spirit of the season.

Since swimming is a sport that values personal improvement, swimmers who broke or set a new personal best time for their events were given a small gift! The Aquatics Department is proud of all students who competed, set new records, and the many who even experienced their first swim meet!

There were several athletes who received times in the top five for their events and age groups in YISS history. Congratulations to the swimmers below:

  • Clara L. / 50 Breaststroke (8 & Under girls) / 1:13.13

  • Raymon M. / 50 Freestyle (11-12 boys) / 28.79

  • Raymon M. / 100 IM (11-12 boys) / 1:17.68

  • Chloe P. / 100 Breaststroke (11-12 girls) / 1:27.75

  • Corinne C. / 100 IM (11-12 girls) / 1:21.23

  • Max G. / 50 Freestyle (13-14 boys) / 26.43

  • Max G. / 50 Butterfly (13-14 boys) / 30.31

  • Jeffery Y. / 50 Butterfly (15 & Over boys) / 29.40

We would like to again thank all of the volunteers who put in the time and effort to make this event successful. All YISS swimmers are encouraged to keep swimming and stay active over Christmas break as we look forward to more competitions to come in 2022!
