8th Grade Gala Honors Students with an “Evening in Paris”
On Friday, May 17, the YISS Class of 2028 gathered for the annual 8th Grade Gala, an evening dedicated to celebrating their achievements and milestones. This beautiful event, held in the school’s courtyard, marked a significant moment in the students’ academic journey, filled with speeches, musical performances, and a special dining experience.
The evening’s program commenced with an address by the Student Council President, who emphasized the growth students have demonstrated throughout the year. Next, several eighth grade students took the stage to share their personal experiences and reflections on the Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs), highlighting how these principles have guided their academic and personal development.
Musical performances added a joyful note to the evening, showcasing the diverse talents of the eighth graders. These performances not only entertained but also illustrated the students’ dedication and hard work in their artistry.
Teachers and administrators also took the opportunity to share words of encouragement and wisdom, offering congratulations and support as the students prepare to transition to high school.
A special moment was the acknowledgement of the support from parents. Flowers were presented to the parents, recognizing their role in their child’s success and conveying gratitude for their encouragement and involvement.
After the formal program, the celebration continued in the school’s triangular courtyard, an intimate setting perfect for the occasion. Here, students enjoyed a meal with their classmates, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared accomplishment. The courtyard, beautifully decorated in a Parisian theme, provided a warm and inviting atmosphere for the students to reflect on their middle school years.
The 8th Grade Gala is a cherished tradition at YISS. It symbolizes the hard work, dedication, and growth of our eighth graders. As they prepare to embark on a new journey, this celebration reminds them of the caring and supportive community that surrounds them.
